I’ve been practicing songs on my ukulele too. I love how it sounds. I still need loads more practice, but my favorite song to play is Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay. Maybe because I used to live in San Francisco, or just because it’s such a classic song. I also like how the ukulele makes it sound a little happier.
I’ve been practicing some of my favorite songs on the guitar! I did upload a video of it and left it up for a few days. Then I decided that it was too personal and bad so I took it down. I did want to experiment with using video on my camera, and it worked out a lot better than I thought it would. Uploading video here on tumblr was super easy. I call it a success.
Slowly but surely I’m starting to work on some of my goals.
Reading: I’m finishing a book I’ve been reading on and off for years: Having Faith: An Ecologist’s Journey to Motherhood by Sandra Steingraber which is excellent, and I’m starting Listening Against the Stone- Selected Essays by Pushcart Prize-Winning Author Brenda Miller, the beginning of which is fascinating me. The first essay really grabbed me and her writing is supreme.
Cooking and Baking: I was really hoping to work on this one, but it still hurts too much to stand for any amount of time.
Follow more library news: I’ve been keeping up on Hack Library School blog, which I love. I’ve joined a few more LinkedIn groups related to libraries and reading discussion threads and articles that they link to there. I’ve also joined the facebook group for I Need A Library Job (INALJ) which is a great resource. Also: check out this awesome article on speed dating at the Library!
Are you an outdoor kid or an indoor kid? Putting aside that you may no longer be a ‘kid’… I suppose we all probably oscillate between the two, but when it’s summertime, I sure love being an outdoor kid. So, why am I stuck on the couch? Well, I went and sprained both my ankles. Right when I was planning to take a chunk of vacation for outdoor fun. I work full time and am going to grad school part time for library science. My one month between my internship and my next round of classes is now clouded by my physical limitation. I’ve already spent two weeks mostly sitting on the couch. I’ve watched enough Hulu for a lifetime and I’m ready to be productive. I made a list of things I hope to accomplish during my remaining time on the couch. I like making lists and having goals. I figured a blog is motivation to keep me accountable. And a fun way to document what I might be able to accomplish.
Start a blog- whew! Doesn’t it feel good to cross things off?
- Learn some tech-y stuff (to be determined)
- Play my ukulele and guitar
- Cook and Bake
- Make a Movie
- Follow more library news
- Not mope
- Not watch too much Hulu
I saw my doctor today and he said it might be about three more weeks till I’m better. Perhaps this is ambitious for three weeks, but let’s see what I can do! I have the right to amend the list at any time, adding and deleting as I see fit. I’ll try to keep up with posting my results.
